What’s important in making a really nice portrait? The most important element of a successful portrait, one you’ll treasure and enjoy for years, is the individual expressions of your family. Your portrait should reflect the personality of each person through expression. Clothing, location and props should all be chosen with that in mind.

How can I help? First, let’s talk about where you would like to be photographed.  If you have a nice garden, your portrait will mean all the more to you if it is created in your own backyard.  If it is a family reunion, then Grandma & Grandpa’s front room probably has many great memories for everyone, making your group portrait all that more special.  In your home or outside, we’ll select a location that reflects your style.

We’d like something outside but we don’t have a great yard! We’re lucky to be in El Dorado county aren’t we? The outdoors is a great place to photograph families.  We have several parks around the area that we can usually depend on for nice scenes. We don’t need or want identifiable locals, just a nice outdoor setting.

What else should I think about? From the start, it helps to be thinking about where you want to hang and enjoy your portrait. The size and style of the room will influence clothing choices and determine appropriate portrait size.
